THE SORROUNDING AREA
This 90m2 flat with 16m2 terrace is embedded in catalogued historical buildings in Ciutat Vella, right where the street of Hostal del Sol meets the Roman wall. The building features a Dragon relieve on its façade and its origins date back to 1736. Through a stone archway you enter a lovely staircase patio. Located a few meters from the remarkable Edificio de Correos; adjacent to El Borne, Port Vell, and Las Ramblas, this charming and convenient area provides easy walking access within 5-10 minutes to a major set of landmarks, restaurants, galleries, museums, etc.
THE APARTMENT
Espacio Habitat is an environment rather than a flat. It is an exquisitely renovated apartment with a beautiful stone façade exposing the different stages and interventions of the building throughout the years. With original exposed vaults and wood structure, timber ceilings, and brick walls in the foyer and bathrooms. The interior, designed by SOFAR architects, embraces the old and the new, balancing works of rehabilitation and restoration on original doors, windows, iron fences and floors with all the requirements for a contemporary living environment including double glazing, wireless internet connection. Special emphasis was given by the firm to the care of detailing and the selection of the adequate STARK designed furniture in bathrooms, SMEG kitchen and AGABECOV lighting. This loft like space is full of character and tailored for short term visitors.
This wonderfully decorated flat has an extraordinary wood floor terrace equipped with an outside designed shower for those hot summer days, table, chairs; bougainvilleas and palms create a cozy atmosphere. Inside there are 2 double bedrooms. One along the stone façade with a lovely balcony to the street Hostal del Sol looking over the Roman Tower and features the wooden ceiling mentioned before. A heavy theatrical curtain isolates the room from the living area. The second bedroom with direct access to the terrace through an iron frame door also contains a double bed and is kept separate and private from the living area by sliding glass doors.
Both complete bathrooms are beautifully designed around a former well. The main bathroom, beside the stone façade, is privileged with a bathtub that enjoys a charming window that allows natural light in. Both bathrooms comprise Phillipe Starck's designed sinks, toilets and showers.
A special blueprint in ESPACIO HABITAT is the wooden floor strip that extends from the terrace outside to the inside bathrooms making a continuum space through the apartment and bridging the front and rear façades.
The living and dining areas occupy a large space defined by the exposed structure reinforcement that supports the original wood beams and volts. Here you find a nice dining table and chairs for 6 guests. At the living area you find the big original wood centre door-table and low puffs around which the guest can sit and enjoy some relaxation time with TV-music system. One step below and separated from living area by a shared wall the guest is welcomed into the foyer. This space was rehabilitated into a multifunctional space where you can be isolated to read, work or relax. Its brick walls, floor, and timber ceiling make it authentic and charming. It can be isolated from the rest of the apartment by wood-glass doors and connects the flat with the staircase access and interior patio.
The kitchen in Espacio Habitat is top end, high quality. Specially designed by the architects to fit in the space, it serves the terrace and dinning table to enjoy a pleasant dinner inside or outside at will. Tastefully done in stainless steel with a sleek and modern look. It comes equipped with SMEG fridge, dish washer, gas stove, oven, sink and microwave oven together with all the necessary cooking devices to take advantage of the excellent supply of local and international groceries, sea food, spices and winery that our guest can find in the near markets of La Boqueria and Sta Catarina.

The minimum rental time is 3 nights (might accept exceptions after agreement). Check- Ins/ Outs: Check In is at 15:00 Check Out is at 11.00 (We will try to accommodate all necessary arrival and departure times, there is a surcharge of 30 Euros for any check in / out before 9 am and after 9 pm)
