History: During the Barcelona International Trade Fair of June 1962, Jose Maria Maso and a number of other exhibitors came together to start a specialist Spanish Boat Show. The first Barcelona Boat Show was held by Juan Antonio Samaranch in June 1963, a Spanish banker and industrialist who would later replaced Lord Killanin as President of the International Olympic Committee. The idea of the International Boat Show was discussed to promote the different interests of boat shows around the world.

Exibition: For the first time ever, the Show will take place in five large halls in the Gran Via Exhibition Centre and the On-water Show in Port Vell.
